Putpockets
"Visitors to London always have to be on the lookout for pickpockets, but now there's another, more positive phenomenon on the loose--putpockets. Aware that people are suffering during the economic crisis, 20 former pickpockets are now trawling London's tourist sites slipping money back into unsuspecting pockets." --Reuters, Aug. 19, 2009

Farmer Fashion
My family has a farm, so dressing to get messy isn't new to me...but somehow I just can't accept wearing my oversized shorts and t-shirts while in France, particularly since the images that come to mind of the French resemble this:

Chic to the core. Obviously my middle school band t-shirt that hangs to my knees won't cut it.
Now to build my French farmer wardrobe. First, good mud-boots are quite necessary. I just bought these from Target.
Dresses and skirts can be worn while farming, depending on the chores. Such feminine clothes worn in fields makes me feel very mother-of-the-earth, but the wind in fields picks up so strongly it can be risky. I'm thinking some floral vintage dresses, like what dear Liebemarlene Vintage is selling this week:
Of course, American Apparel always has something to save the day. I'm thinking this skirt will be a good basic.
And really, I think I just want to look like this:
Cleverly cut tank-top, structured shorts, and hippie headband here I come.

Well.
As a liberal arts college student, I seem to be feeling the need to introduce my blog, explain what it will be about, and defend why I chose this topic.
So.
I have been dreaming for years of working at a feminist fashion magazine--ideally in France. While attempting to plan my entire future today, I realized a blog would be a marvelous way to merge my interests. I've been following many blogs obsessively for years, so it seems quite natural. The similarities between blogs and magazines are obvious, but it will also give me a reason to practice my French.
Here goes nothing...
